Sanction – reduction in classification for harassment of a supervisee
An Executive Level employee was found to have breached the Code of Conduct for engaging in inappropriate communication on social media and on their agency’s internal messaging platform with a junior employee in their direct line of supervision. The agency determined this amounted to harassment, a misuse of Commonwealth resources, and conduct that failed to uphold the good reputation of the agency, in breach of sections 13(3), (8) and (11) of the Public Service Act 1999.
The agency imposed a sanction of a reduction in classification, and a reassignment of duties to a position with no supervisory responsibilities.
