Lodge a review application
Lodge your application for review of a workplace decision, a promotion review or make a complaint about your final entitlements.
Before lodging - check your eligibility for review of:
- a promotion decision for a vacancy advertised prior to 1 April 2025
- a promotion decision for a vacancy advertised after 1 April 2025
- a workplace decision
- a complaint about your final entitlements.
2025/2026 Christmas/New Year arrangements (Gazette)
For promotion notices published in APS Gazettes PS50 and PS1 the Merit Protection Commissioner has extended the period of time applicants may submit an application for review, pursuant to the Public Service Regulations 2023 and the Parliamentary Service Determination 2024.
The new dates are:
- Gazette PS50: Applications are accepted until 5pm local time, Thursday 8 January 2026
- Gazette PS1: Applications are accepted until 5pm local time, Thursday 29 January 2026.
Local time means 5pm in the State or Territory in which the application is made. Applications made overseas must be received by the Merit Protection Commissioner by 5pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time. Review of a workplace decision
Apply here for a direct review by the Merit Protection Commissioner of a workplace decision including:
- a breach of the Code of Conduct
- a sanction imposed following a determination of a breach of the Code of Conduct
This form may also be used in certain limited circumstances where it may not be appropriate to seek a primary review from your agency. These are:
- your Agency Head was involved in the action; or
- where it is not appropriate because of the seriousness or sensitivity of the action, for an agency or department to deal with the application; or
- the action is claimed to be victimisation for having made a previous review application.
Before you apply for review of an action on any of the above three grounds you must make sure you meet the requirements to apply directly to the MPC.
Secondary review of a workplace decision
For secondary review of a workplace decision, following a primary review by your agency or department, you will need to complete this form and lodge it with your agency. They will send it on to us within 14 days.
Complaint about final entitlements
Apply here to make a complaint about your final entitlements on leaving the service.
