How the office of the Merit Protection Commissioner is structured

The Merit Protection Commissioner is appointed under the Public Service Act 1999 and the Parliamentary Services Merit Protection Commissioner under the Parliamentary Service Act 1999.
The Merit Protection Commissioner is supported by staff who are employees of the Australian Public Service Commission. Under s 49(2) of the Public Service Act 1999 the Australian Public Service Commissioner provides staff and resources to support the Merit Protection Commissioner to effectively discharge its functions.
